GMRS-LinkBattleship
Team against team, one coordinate at a time, all on the air, all on the online board. Here's everything you need before the first shot is called.
Pre-game setup
Work through these in order and your team will be ready when the Game Master opens the game. The online board handles most of it for you.
-
Check in T-30 min
Check in 30 minutes before start time. Open the player page, then enter the 4-letter game code the Game Master reads on the air, your name and your call sign.
-
Get your team
Teams are randomly generated and assigned by the Game Master. Your screen updates on its own when you're placed on Red or Blue.
-
Pick a Captain
One teammate clicks I'll be Captain. Only the Captain announces HIT or MISS. Playing 1 v 1? You're automatically your own Captain.
-
Set your turn order
The Captain uses the arrows to put players in the exact order they'll call shots. The game follows that order and shows everyone who's up next.
-
Choose your fleet layout
Everyone votes on one of the premade cards, then the Captain locks it in. Your team's votes and final pick are hidden from the other team.
-
Stand by for the coin flip
Once both teams have a Captain and a locked layout, the Game Master flips the coin in the app and the battle starts.
Game modes
The Game Master picks the mode for each game, and you'll see it at the top of your screen. The rules are the same in both. The difference is who records the result.
Radio mode
Everything happens on the air, and the board keeps score.
- The player who's up calls the shot on the air: "A-3 … A-3."
- They (or a teammate) click that square, then click Send shot.
- The other Captain's computer sounds an incoming-fire alarm, a big alert pops up, and the square flashes on their fleet.
- The Captain says HIT or MISS on the air, then clicks the matching button.
- Every board updates. If a ship went down, the Captain's screen shows what to say: "You sunk our Cruiser."
Sent the wrong square? Click Cancel shot before the Captain answers.
Automatic mode
Radioless. The board scores every shot instantly.
- The player who's up clicks a square, then clicks Fire.
- HIT or MISS appears on every screen right away.
- Captains can still read results out on the air to keep the net lively.
Great for practice, new players, or when radio traffic needs to stay light.
Rules & flow
Who goes first
The Game Master flips the coin in the app. The winning team's first player in turn order takes the opening shot.
Your fleet: 8 ships
Standard sinking rules: a ship sinks when every one of its squares is hit. Each team's fleet covers 25 squares.

| Battleship | |
| Frigate | |
| Cruiser | |
| Submarine × 2 | |
| Destroyer × 2 |
Calling shots
Players call one coordinate at a time, following their team's turn order. Say it, pause, say it again so everyone on the net hears it clearly. The game also shows each square phonetically, like Alpha Three, if you want to use it.
Announcing results
The opposing team's Captain answers every shot with HIT or MISS. Nobody else on that team calls it. When a ship goes down, the Captain adds which one: "HIT. You sunk our Destroyer."
Marking shots
The board marks every shot on both teams' screens automatically.
If a player leaves
Click Leave game if you have to go. On a team of 2 or more, your team plays on short-handed (a 2 v 2 becomes a 2 v 1), and the turn order closes up around you. If you were Captain, the next player in order takes over. In a 1 v 1, leaving ends the match and the other player wins by forfeit. Everyone gets a notice on screen either way.
The game ends when every ship in a team's fleet is sunk. The losing team's Captain makes it official on the air:
